The Hon Irwin Cotler, MP
Born in Sweden in 1912, Raoul Wallenberg was and is widely celebrated for his successful effort to rescue up to a hundred thousand (100 000) Jews in Nazi-occupied Hungary, while serving as Sweden’s special envoy in Budapest, during the later stages of the War. Wallenberg has been universally recognised and awarded for the humanitarian work. He is inextricably bound with both the fate and the future of the Jewish people.
